Correcting a bilateral deficit

Anyone know of a good method for correcting a bilateral deficit in the legs? I was at the gym today working on my legs with a bilateral leg press. I could get my right leg to push up the weight a few times, but my left leg couldn't do it at all. I understand that we are all (for the most part) dominant with one limb or the other, but my feeling is that if I could minimize the deficit between the two, I would be overall more efficient on the bike. Efficiency = free watts

Thanks guys!

You can do a search for unilateral training , but to start off with I'd recommend single leg squats and deadlifts. Just a few sets of each of those will help a lot, though it takes time.
