Gettin stronger every day

Well, 8 mos and 42 pounds later, I am finally beginning to feel like a cyclist again. Just a month ago, a friend and I would do a MTB ride and he would have to wait for me at the top of every climb. This same guy I got into cycling 5 years ago and used to school him every day. Man it was depressing!

Well last night we went on a 2 hour MTB ride on some local trails and I Crushed. I waited for him at every trailhead/top of every hill and actually managed to ride up the most technical and steep hill on the ride without stopping or dabbing. I have NEVER made it up that hill! He remarked at the end of the ride that it was nice to have the old Chuck back and would I mind bolting a 25 pound plate to my down tube so he didn't have to work as hard?

We are duoing a 24 hour mtb race in august together hopefully, so its back to training and maybe to losing 15-20 more pounds so I can go even faster. Thanks to those here that offered the words of encouragement way back at the start of this odyssey to help motivate me to get fitter and ride again!

Congratulations! I am proud of anyone who loses that much weight. How much do you weigh now?

Ever since I started biking, I actually gained weight ... 135 to 140 lbs.

Good job on your accomplishment! I'm trying to get a friend to do the same as he's fighting weight and blood pressure problems, and you're an inspiration to us all.

Right now I am a steady 218, but will probably lose 20 pounds over the next 8 weeks just based on the riding I am doing now. I am averaging 15-18 hours riding a week and will be able to maintain that. Ultimate goal is 190, but I am giving myself until next spring to get there. I like slow steady lose better than quick easily regained weight loss.
