knee pop
Hi,
My last two training sessions on the bike, I've felt some discomfort in my right knee. Once last Thursday, and when I tried to pedal on the bike again today. (7days apart) Almost like I would feel relieved if it popped. I wonder if anyone else has felt like this before and what did you to to relieve the discomfort. Could it be my bike fit is a little off, my knee is injured, or what not?
Thanks,
Jonathan

I'd guess a swollen tendon or sheathe. Try ibuprofen with breakfast. See if that makes it better. Go for a long walk. Sometimes that helps, but don't know why. Guess you didn't "do" anything to it, or you would have said?

No I didn't do anything to it. Well atleast as far as I know. I wonder if it's a result of my saddle position, causing my knee pain. But the weird thing is it's only on one side.
If it is a swollen tendon or sheathe (what is that by the way) generally how long does it usually take to heal if it's nutured to health?

A week? Yes, do have your bike fit checked.

Hello, I have had some experience with knee pain and the such on and off the bike. It turns out that my patella (kneecap) wasn't tracking the right way. After going to my doctor I was refered to the Orthopedic doctor with "water on the join" bassically my knee was slightly swollen. After going to the Ortho I found out that my patella wasn't tracking right and was given a Physical Therapy sched. If the pain keeps on happening I would go to the doc and see whats up. According to my doc (not sure if this true or not) he said that riding (atleast in my case) may have caused the patella tracking issue. As the others have suggested it may be a sizing problem. Just thought I would tell you because it may help you out in the long run. Hope this helps and hope that you are not in too much discomfort.

just diagnosed with tendonitis and bursitis in right knee, medial side. treatment for me consists of 200mg of celebrex 1x/day for 18days, ice 2-4x/day, very limited riding or no riding for the next week, then gradual work myself back up to "speed".
if it doesn't respond to this, then i get some sort of physical therapy and/or cortizone to the knee.
hope you feel better soon.
see a doctor.

I've sustained multiple injuries in the past in my left knee, and get the same sensation about once a ride. Fortunately I ride fixed, so it's easy for me to do this, and I don't know how hard it would be on a roadie. When clipped in I pull my leg up against the downstroke, letting the pedals 'pop' my knee for me. I'm much more comfortable after that.
If you can swing health insurance, next time you see your GP you might want to mention it. If it's just that 'knuckles need to be popped' sensation I wouldn't sweat it too much, though if you're feeling other types of discomfort or getting swelling you ought to make an appointment to get it checked out.
Also, consider your pedal choice and think about whether you should have a little more usable float. I like Eggbeaters because they're fairly floaty and adhere to my "can kill a bear with it" rule, but I hear Speedplays are very comfortable pedals.
