Anyone here ever use a Dietician/Nutritionist?

Hey guys,

I worked with a cycling coach this year for 4 months and the results were better than I expected. The only goal I missed was that I wanted to get my body fat into the 10% range. I started at 15.9% and am currently somewhere between 12-14%. I just found out that my company has a deal with a local Nutrition consulting company and that my insurance will cover the engagements with a registered dietician. Anyway, I'm curious if anyone here has used a nutritionist in the past and what I can expect.

Thanks

Do it! Log your food intake on fitday.com for a week beforehand and go in there asking millions of questions.

Unless you are woking with a dietician that is working WITH your coach, I don't see how you would really need to see one. If you were obese and needed to lose a lot of weight, or were diabetic, etc. then I could see it. But if you are trying to increase or enhance your performance on the bike, then I think that you need to work with a dietician and trainer/cycling-coach combo to get what you want. If you are not racing, or have serious food issues/problems, then I just don't think that you need a dietician at all. My opinion.

If you do decide to go to one, ask around and make sure that they have experience working with endurance athletes. And I also agree that you should document each bite that you eat for a couple of weeks before you go in on something like fitday.com (I use that). Hope this helps.
