Flu !!!!!

Ive just finnished doing battle with a dose of 'flu though I still have a lot of phlem on my chest , I commuted to work & back ok but now the worst was over I started to add some Ks but I started to feel realy light headed & my legs feel like lead especialy on hills, not good at all !! Is there any tonics or over the counter preperation available to help counter this post-flu problem ??

When I get the flu I take nyquil and dayquil nonstop until I feel 100% again .... it has always worked well for me. Aside from that I would imagine any over the counter flu drug would help as you still have remnants of those symptoms lingering around.

Woah, take it easy. You don't want to extend your crappy feeling.

I like to drink hot tea (herbal) with honey and lemon. Honey is a natural expectorant, lemon an anti-viral agent, and the hot drink helps soothe the throat. I hear a little pinch of cinnamon does something good too, but I don't remember what that is.

But if your head starts to pound, lay down or take a cold pill.

Start back slowly- coming back from an illness wipes you out a bit- your fitness has most likely decreased a little, so you'll have to scale it back and rebuild your fitness. That's about the only thing I could suggest for you- no tonics or magic solutions, just rest and do easy workouts and gradually build up the intensity of your workouts as you begin to feel a bit stronger.

Good luck.

I don't know if it will work with you or not but I find Echinacea tea good for drying out my sinuses and clearing my lungs when I am ailing. If you decide to try it it is recommended that you start drinking it as soon as you start to feel the symptom's. I have had tremendous success with it.

Hi,
like the others said, take it easy for a while. I like a little ginseng when I am recovering. If you have a Chinese Apothecary nearby just buy $5 or 10 of their best. Ask them what their best is. I have them slice it thin, brew a littl cup of tea with it, and then go for a easy to moderate exercise session.

A real flue (not just a bad cold) can knock me right back and wipe out any fitness I had. You need to rest completely, then start cycling again really gently. Dont do anything athletic if your chest is bad. It can take weeks to get your fitness back, and trying to ride prematurely can really tire you out and make you vulnerable to another chest infection.

Thanks for your replies , Ive taken your advice & Ive been taking it easy on the milage ,I usualy try & do 50 --60 ks a day on an extented commute home but I'm only doing 30 to 40 at the moment ,this strain of 'flu seems to be a real bad arse one ,my chest is still very congested & I seem to be suffering from oxyegen starvation up the hills, even though Im taking them slow & in my lowest gear :crash: On the up side Ive lost 3kgs in a week !!

Be very careful... accumulated stresses are hard on your body and especially your immune system. You need that immune system at the moment ;)
