Can you eat to many banana's?

I noticed lately I have been eating a bunch of banana's and am wondering if this is a bad thing or if it could lead to anything. I just eat them because it is convenient and they aren't to sweet.

Lately I have been eating 1-2 a day. I usually always eat one when I wake up and then maybe one sometime in the afternoon. Doesnt sound like a lot but it adds up to maybe 7-12 in a week.

Should I be concerned?

I would be concerned if you were eating fewer. As Dr. Who says "Bananas! I LOVE bananas!!"

Seriously...well, that was serious. The one food item I always keep in stock is bananas. It's a perfect food. I have them with oatmeal for breakfast. Sometimes as an afternoon snack. And I always blend them with chocolate milk for recovery.

No - you should not be concerned.

Just watch out for a large increase in body hair and the uncontrollable urge to climb trees. Bananas make a great snack. Quick, easy and comes in its own wrapper.

I suppose one could make an argument that you can over eat or over drink anything.

However, I think most people would simply be too full before they reach this dangerous point by eating fruits and veggies.

This doesn't apply to the OP but if anyone out there is considering potassium loading by gorging on bananas, the current data shows that's highly improbable.

I just ate 5 bananas today in total! I feel great, though I think my girlfriend had more to do with the feeling great part than the bananas. ^_-

I've been eating 2-3 bananas a day since I was a little kid (I grew up on an island, so go figure). Bananas are great for you!

A small number of people can't handle excess potassium, so bananas are dangerous to them, but if you can eat 1-2 a day now, you're not one of those.

that is a lot of bananas. I do feel they are the perfect fuel food. banans give me acid reflux problems, for some reason. Don't like to get them all squishy in my jersey pocket though. I usually have one before a major ride.

i always have bananas in the house...they're also great if you are hungry late at night, or wake up and your stomach is growling. They're easy to digest, don't lie on your stomach and help you get back to sleep!

and if you have overripe, gross bananas...give them to your dog. THey love them!!

Not any more than most other sugary foods. Just brush your teeth soon after eating them.

Too much of anything will kill you. The question is how much is too much? A couple of bananas a day is definitely not a problem. The more you cycle, the more you sweat. You loose potassium in the form of potassium chloride when you sweat. Plus your kidneys will flush out any excess with all of the fresh water that you are drinking on your ride. I love how life work!

3-4 years ago, readers of one of the British cycling mags voted the "plastic banana carrier" the most significant cycling innovation of the year.
