Post-Ride nausea and headache

Just finished my first 20 miler and feel like dying. :( I thought I was doing everything correct to prep for it; carbs last night, powerbar 45 min before, plenty of water, pre/during energy drink (Revenge Pro by Champion Nutrition), packet of GU at mile 10, and water during. Had an 'Endurox' shake after I was finished. About 20 min post-ride i am experiencing nausea and a gnarley headache. Any advice? Am I just out of shape or am I doing something wrong?

I think you'd better slow down and take a break once you have those nasty feelings.

Do you usually eat the things you mentioned? How about the Endurox shake could that have botherd you?

If not just ride more and worry less. Sounds like a lot of prep for a 20 mile ride.

Since this is your FIRST 20 mile ride you may be out of shape.
How hard are you pushing yourself?
Start at an easy pace and build up gradually.

When I do my daily 37 mile ride I usually have a piece of fruit before leaving. During the ride I drink water and Gatorade, and have a Powerbar Power Gel at about mile 20. When I get home I sometimes have a turkey sandwich (protein and carbs) and more water. That's it.

Do you always eat and drink all that stuff?
Maybe the combination or the amount is more than you can handle.
I know it would be way too much stuff for me.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. When I first started cycling I would sometimes have nausea when trying to climb a really big hill or if it was just really hot outside.

I live in an extremely hilly area. About 1/3 of the route that I took is flat, the rest is pretty long, steep hills. The ride I took yesterday was about double what I have done before (I've been riding for about a month). I'm sure the pushing too hard, too early has a lot to do with it.
The symptoms went away after about 30 min.
