My Ears...hurt from the wind

..anybody else ever have this problem?

It is as if the wind is irritating my canals and I actually get a dull headache and then vertigo.

I don't have ear problems diving or flying. When I stuff cotton in them, I feel like I need to hear better.

What to do?

There is a company that makes a flap that attaches to your helmet straps to cut down on windnoise. Slipstreamz or something. Some searching and you should find them, or maybe someone else remembers them better.

Obviously there are many contributing factors to the problems of Headaches, Ear Aches and Sore Throats etc. I myself have been suffering with headaches and earaches for many years. I finally went to a doctor about the constant earaches but got a clean bill of health, but no advice on how to resolve the issue. My earaches seemed to be prompted by the slightest breeze blowing on my ears. Also, I always got an earache if I developed a head ache. I finally determined what was causing both of my symptoms. I am extremely sensitive to CAFFEINE. I used to think that as long as I avoided coffee I would be OK. But I now know that anything with caffeine in it has a detrimental affect on me. As long as I religiously avoid all food and drinks that have caffeine in them - no more headaches or earaches. I am assuming that this is an allergic reaction to a substance that my body is sensitive too. I hope that relating this information will possibly help many other sufferers of these debilitating symptoms. My quality of life has improved so much since I came to realize what was causing the symptoms. I hope it helps you too. Good health to you.

FYI,
foam earplugs are much better than cotton.
Also, custom earplugs are available from most health providers.

I have this issue, too, but it only happens to me with temps under 50/55. I wear a thin sweat-wicking headband that covers my ears. I've tried cotton before, but it feels odd and seems to muffle sounds more than I like. If the wind is high enough, I may even wear it when temps are over 60. I may look like a dork with short sleeves and a headband, but at least no ear aches.

+1 on the headband, that seems to work for me too and I have about the same temp range.

This happens to me as well at about 50F or lower. Very painful earaches that turn into headaches.
I am bald and at that temp I also wear a skullcap so the whole issue is negated (generally). Occasionally I screw up and my iPod ear buds help me out.
