Finally banned, now that they are all but gone from the shelves. Not to mention its only a health risk is abused.
The MEAT people also banned ******** and malformed cows from consumption (makes me wonder what I've been eating all these years). It is now Illegal to eat cow brain and lower intestine in the USA.
Yesterday was a strange news day.

Finally banned, now that they are all but gone from the shelves. Not to mention its only a health risk is abused.
I have only had 3 tabs out of the 200 I purchased, twice cycling and one when I was playing soccer. The days I took the tabs when I went out cycling were probably the best days I have ever had on a bike ever. I took them with a small amount of creatine and I couldn't believe how easy It was pushing huge gears, up big hills and at the top not being out of breath. It was really strange. I had only been cycling for a month, but I was leaving semi professional riders on the long hills in my area out to dry. The stuff keeps your legs spinning huge gears but without the pain of your lungs & heart.

I heard that they banned it because ephedra had been linked to 110 deaths over the last ten years. I also heard that asprin averages 100 per year, Tylenol 200-300 and Benadril about 600 per year. Of course I heard this over the radio, and I do not confirm these numbers.

Exactly, if you want to look at over the counter products that have killed more people, try plain old tylenol or asprin.

However, in all fairness, I will also present some numbers that the proponents of banning ephedra are using:
The American Association of Poison Control Centers reported 1178 ephedrarelated adverse reactions in 2001, accounting for 64% of all adverse reactions secondary to commonly used herbs in the United States. However, ephedra products represented only 0.82% of the herbal products for sale in the United States. Indeed, the relative risk for adverse reactions among ephedra users are 10- to 40-fold higher than the risk among those who use other herbal products. It is for this reason, these anti ephedra people are chanting their mantra.
Adverse effects meaning heart attacks, strokes, palpitatins, chest pain, anxiety attacks etc. and not necessarily deaths.
I don't like ephedra, but at the same time I don't think it should be banned when so many other things are more dangerous.

I would also be interested to see how many of those ephedra related adverse reactions are from people who responsibly take ephedra and follow the directions on the box.
We have a tendency to overreact (in the USA) when we see a situation go bad- we have this knee-jerk reaction, then we just sweep it all under the rug and pat it down, without considering all scenarios.
