Any knowledgeable personal trainers out there?

1. I've been tossing around the idea of becoming a personal trainer
2. I'm currently a senior Applied Nutrition major

After doing some research on becoming a personal trainer, I read that there are hundreds of various certifications. Basically, I'm just curious as to where I should start, and where you started, etc. I also read that better certifications are available only with a relevant college degree (which mine would be). What doors does this open for me in general?

Any suggestions or links would be great. Just hoping to get any kind of input. Thanks!

-Sean

You might want to talk to world-famous Koffee Brown. She knows everything. That is not an understatement.

Sean, i'm a CPT working in Newton, MA.

Shoot me a PM with a way to reach you via phone and I'd be happy to talk with you about my experiences.

I love the job, by the way!

My Job is offering to send me to Coopers to be a CPT. Worth taking it for free? I do not work in the fitness industry at all it would be a collateral at work for my students. I am an instructor currently and a Computer/Network/Telephone/Satellite tech by trade for the military. This cert would allow me by CG standards to be a UHPC (Unit Health Promotion Coordinator).
