New Training Software

I am developing a new kind of training software, which is much more depth than current products. It includes features such as full season planning with periodization, targets, Athlete tests, etc. A very detailed training diary. An advanced analysis engine for production of charts and reports. Configurable forms and database so you can store and analyse just about any data you want. And Finally, seemless data sharing with your coach (No more sending emails).
I am interested in any feedback people could provide.
Would this kind of software be of interest to you?
Are there any specific requirements you would have for the software?
If anybody has HRM/Cycle Computer file specifications or the files themselves, I would appreciate an email, so that I can use them to develop and test the system.

I would be glad to give free copies of the software (when it is complete) to anybody assisting in the gathering of requirements and/or beta-testing.
Thanks

It would be nice if the software could be user customized to allow multi-sport data, caloric data (beyond total calories) and graphing/charts. LifeForm is pretty good for diet but not for sport.

If you are creating a program that formulates workouts it needs a lot of latitude for customization. I dislike the "one size fits all" approach many of the current programs offer. If you cross train it's almost impossible to stay on the programs.

I used the Athletes Diary for years. It was pretty good but limited customization. It's still my favorite of the training diary software though I now use an excel spreadsheet for my daily logs.

Have you had a look at my CycliStats software? IMHO, it's pretty good. It is designed as a log/diary, but not as a "coach" - if you need coaching features, you'll have to look elsewhere.

But, it does feature a very good user interface, with lots of build in reports and graphs, and the ability to export to Excel for further analysis. In addition to the normal bike ride data (distance, time, speed, etc.), it also automatically estimates calories, average wattage, and climbing. It also allows you to track maintenance on your bike(s), and your basic health data (weight, resting heart rate, blood pressure, etc.). There's a free, fully functional, 45-day trial version available on the web site (http://www.CycliStats.com).

Thanks for your feedback JustSayMo
It is a Multi sport and multi Event system. It can be customised extensively, because if there is not a field on a form you wish to use, you can simply add it. There is also a Chart and Report wizard to create your own. The Food form shows Calories,Protein,Fat,Carb and estimated percentage of calories from each. It Will calculate your basal Metabolic rate, and calories burnt during activities to give your calorie deficit(or not) for the day.
The exercises in aworkout are arranged in a grid and you can insert The Duration, Sets,Reps,Amount and INtensity level for each. (It will calculate power or HR levels for each intensity based on your diary data and the Trainining Intensity model you have set up)
The system will not create a training plan for you, that is up to you or you coach to do. I can't see how software could do this reliably, and it could also have legal repurcutions if it told an overweight 60 year old to go for a ten mile run.

There are already charts for Daily Pulse, Weight, Weekly Milage, Weekly hours exercise,Completion of planned exercises.
If any body can let me know what other report or charts they would like to see I would be grateful.

Plee, Sounds like a great program. Is there any way to do comparitive graphs from previous years/seasons or training phases?

I'm in total agreement about the training plans. It's better to have the coach determine the regime.

I think the completion of planned (or training goal?) exercises chart is a GREAT idea.

Thanks for your input Mo,
I will add a report for Comparing to previous seasons and Periodization phases, with the following
Weight, Pulse, Weekly Milage, Weekly duration of exercises (both broken down into intensity levels), Number Of Workouts in week, Calorie Intake, Hours of other commitments(eg work).
Anything else you would like to see?
