Snot a way to stay healthy?

"Picking your nose and eating it is one of the best ways to stay healthy, according to a top Austrian doctor." Yum? |
typical Clevelander! :D

The strange thing is, as a kid I used to do exactly as he said (including eating it!). Now I'm an adult, I've stopped. I'm not so sure I could take it up again.
|
No wonder I was healthier back then, I'll start doing exactly what he says again! lol, seriously.
|
I'm fine with the picking. It's just the eating part that bothers me. The guy is right about the "conditioning by society" bit though. I thought nothing of it 20 years ago.
|
they actually say that picking your nose IS healthier than blowing your nose. the reason? when you blow your nose, 75% of the bacteria laden mucus comes out in the tissue, but 25% gets blasted deeper into the nasal cavity thereby increasing the chances of sinus infections.

Eating it as a medicine?? I don't get the idea behind it. Isn't it filled with germs and bacteria whatsoever, and so when you eat it won't you be more likely infected? Or is it that when you eat them, you destroy them in your digestive system and you get antibodies against them?

Volume? Are you going to ask your mates for donations?

So does it mean that eating snot introduces bacteria to the immune system and through fighting it, the immune system gets stronger? It is not the digestive mechanism that builds up the immune system right? |
This is the most disgusting thread I have ever read... but then again I was a very healthy kid, I got sick all of 4 times in my entire childhood, never washed my hands, picked my nose, ate food that fell on the floor, played around in old abandoned buildings, etc.
I'm not saying roll around in a germ lab but that occasional exposure to germs is just what you're paying for in a vaccine anyway. |
You've GOT TO BE JOKING ....... (right?)
|
Maybe...

I think that would require eating quite a volume of this stuff.
