I've been using this one (or one very much like it) for years, and I really like it:

The one I have is probably a previous model ... it's been 6 years, I think, since I got it but it is stable, quiet, and comfortable.

I've tried magnetic and fluid. I like fluid better because it is quieter and seems more stable.

I also second the Nashbar Fluid. Picked one up a few weeks ago and provides a good workout. Just don't spin at 5am. Apparently the walls are thin between me and my neighbors.

cost more than 150, but TACX imagic and Fortius are the business to keep the interest going.

I got a real good deal on a cyclops magnetic a few weeks ago at Dicks. with everything including the mat and the top tube bra for 199.00. Dicks is a sporting goods store.

there's a thread over in the road forum where a guy is offering to sell his Kurt Road Machine - the same unit that I use - works well enough but I have no experiance with other trainers.

I have a cheap one off craigslist for $60 that feels like my friends $200 trainer. Albeit mine is louder...
