Extremely sore blood shot left eye.

After about 2 hours or so at ~20mph with sunglasses on with shield most of the wind, my left eye is throbbing. It hurts to blink and looks really blood shot. Anyone had that experience too? Would like a good remedy.

Pollen? If so, visine.

Would that affect just one eye?

I'm having the same problem. My right eye is killing me. No matter what way I am riding it always seems the wind is hitting it directly, even under my sunglasses. I use visine which helps some but it is still a pain in the a**.

If your eye is very painful, you may have a corneal abrasion. You really should see a Dr. If you have a consistent history of "burning", "dry" feeling eyes when you are not riding, especially if you are over 30, you should also be checked for "dry eye". All that said, I carry in my gear some single dose eye drops designed for people with dry eyes. They don't have the vasoconstricters that Visine does and are much more soothing. For a long ride I usually carry a half dozen & use them on breaks.

i'm writing this in capital letters because it is so important>>>>

NEVER EVER USE VISINE IN YOUR EYE(S). VISINE 'GETS THE RED OUT' BY CONSTRICTING THE BLOOD VESSELS IN YOUR EYE (CODE FOR ROBBING YOUR EYE OF OXYGEN) AND ITS REPEATED USE IS BAD LONG TERM FOR YOUR EYE. YOUR EYE, ALONG WITH YOUR KIDNEYS AND SKIN ARE THE THREE ORGAN SYSTEMS THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER DEPRIVE OF BLOOD FLOW

getting rid of the red is purely a cosmetic issue.

now. while it is uncommon to have a true allergy in only one eye under this type of exposure, it is not uncommon to have an allergan physically cause an abrasion or irritation to one eye. if you go to the store and get either Collerium or Bausch & Lomb Irrigation Solution (has mild boric acid in it) that should soothe and otherwise flush and irrigate the area. it can remain red for some day(s) afterward and excessive tearing is not uncommon. in the absence of any dizziness, blurred vision, headache, comprimised peripheral vision you'll be fine soon.

BTW: use Naphcon-A otc for eye allergy rather than visine.

Ah great.... thanks for telling me AFTER i bought a bottle of visine :p
It's not the redness that bothers me, it's the soreness.
