Just Finished a 60 miler
I just finished a 60 miler . Was watching OLN while cooling down and I rubbed my arm and had this white like powder on my arms . I thought this was odd , what could this substance be ? Then I figured out it was salt ! How weird is that ???? Anyone else have this happen ?
Peace

If it's a cooler day, I'll have it happen. It is most noticeable on the forehead and nose for me, where the sweat is rapidly cooled by the oncoming air.
Wathing the TdF while hydrating/eating after a ride is great!

This happens to me daily. The desert air is so dry and hot, sweat evaporates before you even know your skin is wet, thus after an hour or two bikeride you get the salt deposits. I get them the worst up by my temples.

Yeah, is that freaky or what? I haven't noticed it yet while riding, but I got it a lot running. I would have it all over my arms and face. It also got all in the cotton wrist watch band I wear. Before I knew what it was for sure, I put my tongue to it, and wow what a blast of salt.
Why does salt come out of your skin with the sweat, anyway? What does it do for your body?

I haven't noticed it on my skin yet, but my helmet straps are usually crusted in it after a couple of hot rides! It's really amazing that that much salt comes out when we sweat eh?!?

The salt comes from the body when we sweat. I get it on the straps and forehead when I fly my kites. Not as much now as I had to reduce my salt level due to hypertension. If I do not wash my face right after a ride I feel the layer of salt over my face and forehead.
