Elevation/climb percantage/grade???
 

for fitness purposes ive been trying to tackle more climbs on both my MTB and Road bike

my question is, are there any website/maps that can show me what the percentage or grade is, of the climb i just did?

any help would be greatly appreciated

Use the 'show elevation' feature on mapmyride.com and it'll give you a rough guesstimate.

ridewithgps.com is another. If you mouse over the elevation profile below the map, it shows grades in a pop-up bubble. You'll get different answers each time you create a route with that hill, though, because the algorithm takes the elevation change over a set distance, and unless you get the starting point exactly the same each time it will give a different result.

from what i gather, one of the climbs i do regularly starts at -2% all the way up to 14% in 0.8 miles...i hope im reading it right :)

Bikely.org is another mapping site that'll spit out profiles. It doesn't always play nicely with my computer, though.

If the climb is popular and you've got a major university nearby, chances are some engineering/computer science/geomatics geek has built a webpage with all the data. I've got Cal and Stanford to rely on, but UC Riverside is getting itself together.

Googling "Inland Empire bicycle climbs" gives you this guy's site (surprise! he's a CS professor!) Anyway, give it a go with the name of a specific road or two.

^thanks for the heads up, problem is my neighborhood is fairly new and its gated, so im not sure how much access the public has to it, i do see a couple of cyclist conquer the hill a couple days a week, my suspicion is that they live in they neighborhood, maybe ill stop and hit them up next time i see 'em
