What do you drink?
So, I am just curious about what other people are drinking while cycling and your experience with different products.
I just started cycling 4 months ago but I have been weightlifting for quite a while. So, I just applied the stuff I use for weightlifting into cycling and I drink lemon lime gatorade mixed with about 5g of BCAAs. I feel it helps a lot and I have no issues with what I am doing. I guess I have no comparison though and I was wondering what people thought about accelerade, gatorade endurance, various gels, and other products. Thanks for looking! |
Perpetuem, about one bottle an hour. Throw in a little straight water every now and then when that sounds better. Half-strength gatorade when I don't have perpetuem available. Add in Endurolyte capsules, 1 every 20 to 30 minutes, on efforts longer than 3 hours (completely non-scientific time criteria). That keeps the electrolyte level happy.

everyones body is diff.erent and reacts to products differently i personally use mostly water with hammer nutrition endurolytes, on rides longer than 50 miles i use gatorade endurance watered down with endurolytes, i also use hammer gels to get my calories in

Water in one bottle. Heed in the other. And usually coke, orange pop, iced tea, or orange juice during rest stops.
|
Gatorade (G not G2) Rain Berry in one bottle (with lots of ice) and water in the other bottle (also with lots of ice). :)
|
I drink water up to about 50-70 miles, if very hot and longer than I drink a diluted form of Gatorade.
|
Water for short recreational rides with friends.
Lemon Lime Gatorade mix for more intense rec rides or longer training rides Cytomax for harder training rides/big group rides or races |
Tap water, 1 and a half hour commute.
10 degrees outside(water bottle freezes after 10 minutes of being exposed) or 95 degrees, I just drink more. |
I have been doing PowerBar Endurance for the last 3 years. Seems to work well for me. If anyone is having stomach issues with Cytomax you may want to try PowerBar. I also use PowerBar gels, Cliff Shots, Cliff Bars, and Odowalla Bars. For variety I carry some Costco Dog Biscuits. Not to eat but to feed some dogs that hang out near one of my rest stops. They use to bark at me now were are all friends.
|
Since I rely on a bottle filled with a mixture of honey and B12 pills for my main source of energy, what is in my bottles is secondary. Therefore, most of what I drink is Gatorade, Lemon-Lime powder from Costco. When we stop at regroup points, either water or Gatorade depending.

I guess in honor of the latest and greatest sponsor - FRS. Of course, buy enough and you get your own blood transfusion kit, but must not tell the authorities who gave it to you.

I go for beer, sometimes I indulge in a nice glass of vino.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=163151 Nunn Electrolyte tabs also do me just fine... all those energy drinks never did work for me, too sweet/sickly and give me too many up/downs (I have hypoglycemic tendancies). |

Saw this today at a water stop and was too superstitous to buy it |
I like the little packets of electrolyte mix that you add to water. I get them at Whole Foods or the supplement store.
2 packets will make about 16 ounces of beverage for approx 60 cents, The Emergen-C brand has vitamin C, B vitamins and electrolytes. Easy to carry and no HFCS. |
Water, straight up: before, during and after.
Then a couple 21st Amendment Brewery IPAs. |
