Kinetic Road Machine Computer

bought a road machine recently and love it. anyone using the computer designed for the road machine and how would you rate its accuracy?

I got the wired version and returned it. I'd suggest getting the wireless.

No idea about the accuracy, but Kurt has a rep for nailing the numbers.

I'm sure the speed is accurate but based on my KK I wouldn't expect better than +/- 10% power accuracy.

Returned mine as well. I already have a Garmin, so no need for the KK version. For the $ much better alternatives out there. What is very useful is a list, trying to remember where I found it, of speed to power numbers. Since there are no external variables you can use speed as a pretty precise measure of power.

interesting, I'll do some digging and see if I can find that list. appreciate all the feedback.

Here is the formula that the Kurt computer uses:

Watts=D*5.24482+(D*D*D*0.019168), where D is speed in MPH.

curious, what sort of wattage does it indicate when you're pushing say a 53x14 at around 90 rpm?

Using Sheldon Brown's calculator and KK's formula, you're looking at around 520 watts. KK's computer will tell you the same, since all its doing is converting speed into watts using the formula.

Boy are you talking to the wrong guy.

I have a triple, and in the winter my real exercise is shoveling and on the rower.
I do that just to keep my legs from turning to mush.

My absolutely subjective impression is that my watt numbers were so low
It had to be mistaken :D
