Indoor Trainer

Do you think it is necessry to remove the tension from the trainer resistance unit after each session? I never do but I'm wondering if I should. Thanks in advance.

Well, it takes all of 5 seconds, so why not?

+1. I`ve always been paranoid about leaving it.

I'm pretty sure you're not going to hurt the trainer. It may be harder in you're tire than anything but like mulveyr said, "why not?".

And I think 5 seconds is being pretty generous

Never even considered it but I like to live on the edge and don't use a "trainer tire" either. I am however having a trainer specific water bottle produce to my exacting specifications. It'll retail for only $19.95 for a limited introductory period. Additional 2% off to BF forum members.

Don't risk you outdoor bottles during indoor rides, TrainerBottle will keep you hydrated during you most grueling indoor rides.

Available at fine cycling stores soon.

If it makes using it is awkward and it tastes funny, I'll take two.

I found it cheaper to just go with a trainer-specific bike

I take the tension off just because I think it's better for the tire not to remain under pressure...the trainer is hard enough on the tire as it is (I know trainer tire...I just haven't done it yet)

Really? What do you think happens when you actually ride your bike outside? OMG, pressure on the tire!!!!!

have you factored in that some may leave the tire with spring tension all week? When is the last time you rode your bike for a week straight? I can see it deforming the tire if left on too long. I take the tension off after I'm done.

I've left the tension on the tire/trainer for weeks unused ( last year when I was in Europe for 5 weeks ). Tire is still fine, and I still sue it. No noticeable signs of any harm.

ymmv

I use a trainer tire and trainer rim, so I would not know about using the same tire on the road.
