tendon pain behind knee
On Friday, I was running a little bit of light mileage before my triathlon on Saturday. I know I should have tapered, but didn't.
Anyhow, I noticed about 2 miles out I was having some stiffness in the tendon on the left side (the two big tendons on the back side of the knee) and by the evening it was just about unbearable. I did finish the tri on Saturday, but then spent all day Sunday doing ice therapy and elevation combined with NSDS to alleviate the ache. Today there is zero pain. I'm still in post-race mode until Thursday-Friday but am wondering if anybody else is familiar with this type of problem? |

Assuming this is your left leg, then it sounds like a classic case of ITB pain. (The ITB is on the outside of leg, from hip to knee). Usually stretching can resolve this. Good luck!

Actually, I had just this same issue two weeks ago. I had my left knee replaced in November, in January my doc said I could do almost anything if it doesn't hurt. But if it hurts, back off. Well, two weeks ago, started playing racquetball. LEFT knee felt great! Right knee had exactly the same pain you describe. In fact, it got bad enough I was certain at bedtime, I wasn't going to make it to work the next day. But, it felt OK but stiff when I got up. And through the day felt even better. In fact, played a slow game of racquetball that night. And no issue since. Had my first real run on the treadmill today. Felt good, but need my lungs back...
