Cycling after serious ankle surgery?

I'm not sure if this fits in the forum, but I did a search and did not find any information. Two months ago a broke my tib/fib along with a few foot bones and a ligament because of a hiking accident, resulting in me having 9 pins and a plate installed. The P.T. has been going great and I've been able to use an exercise bike with my good leg most every day. I've asked my physical therapist if I'll be able to ride once I am able to bear weight and they said I should be able to ride without too many problems, but I plan to ride more than just casually. Anyone have pins that rides?
