Midback pain
I get pain when rowing. Either regular or vertically.
If I hold my torso stiff, I can limit it, and it's not bad.
It also occasionally bothers me from bike riding, usually after the ride.
It's mid back, a bit above the bottom of the rib cage.
What are some exercises I can do to strengthen that spot?

Umm, no.
This happens during exercise, and sometimes for a while after. It's strained muscles.
I sit too much, and I've slacked off on the core exercises now that I'm riding.
