Indoor training advice..

I have access to an exercise bike in my gym, though it is somewhat uncomfortable and it isn't the most impressive bit of kit you will see... really it sounds like it might be on the way out.

Whilst I have the free cash should I instead buy a turbo trainer?

Any comments on turbo trainers would be appreciated - I am still pretty new to cycling.

Just as a sidenote - I don't want to get rollers as due to my lacking of hip movement they wouldn't be very practical.

Get a Kurt Rock and Roll, recently rated best trainer by bikeradar.com . I have the cycleops jetfluid and it is great, but now wish I had purchased the rock and roll for the more realistic simulation to real riding. But of course, I'm not in the same situation with the hip, and I don't know about what kind of range of motion limits you have.

Keep going, I've lost 40 lbs with riding a combo of outdoors and 30 minutes on the trainer everyday.

Cheers for the response, that TT does seem to have a few good reviews!

I have actually picked up a Tacx Satori trainer since my original post due to availability, cost and reviews. Bike radar gives it 2/5 although I completely disagree with that review - I haven't noticed flexing, vibrations or slipping at any resistance or RPM.

Honestly - I can't believe that I ever lived without it. The difference between this and my standard exercise bike is like night and day. Using the new trainer in combination with the Garmin Edge 500, HRM and GSC-10 that I got a week ago is great and my winter training will be much more fun this way!
