Indoor Training for Climbing this winter

Other than doing "The Hunted" and "Angels" from Sufferfest, what else should I be doing during the winter to improve my climbing ability (which is pretty bad right now). Due to sinus problems, I am unlikely to be riding outside below 40 degrees.

What about cross training?

Thanks

Anything you can do to improve your w/kg at threshold will help your climbing (assuming you mean climbs longer than 10-15 minutes). Less weight, more power, or both.

I'm not a fan of doing intervals long before any 'A' races, but intervals make trainer riding less tedious so you'll do more of it.

Can you find a suitable bar and plates (weight training) for doing lighter weight, higher rep squats? Try putting a bar with...and just a starting point....40lbs on it and see how many you can do. Do about 3 sets for starters and see how you feel the next day. Dont do too much the first day or you will be regretting it

This is my indoor training this winter. Too much snow and cold here for any kind of riding so I'll just settle for "squat-a-thons". I have a feeling that in the spring the hills wont be giving me the trouble they did last spring.

There's not much evidence to support this type of training.

You might be surprised at the effects. Give it a go....afterall, there is no better imperial evidence than your own body.

For me? It's the one thing I'll do this winter and will give a write up in the spring.

Like I said....and who cares for evidence of what others say....this is for me since I dont like biking in slush, snowbanks and subzero cold. Betcha there is evidence of high rep squats being better than nothing when it comes to road biking.
