on the bike nutrition ideas?

Just like to ask the board, bout people who do the long distance rides.

What are you eating for your on the bike nutrition?

just looking at any new ideas of what to use? and things that work
so far, use granola bars, trail mix, fruit and a sports drink.

What other things do you all like to eat on your long bike rides/ events eye?

Before we all start repeating ourselves with the same answers we've given to this question many times before .... how about you read through the numerous threads about on-bike nutrition in this forum?

When doing long distance rides I find it easier if I put many of the calories into my water, I prefer maltodextrin mixed with a little bit of Gatorade. I can get 600+ calories in 24oz of water if I want to though I usually stick to 200-400 considering I drink about one bottle an hour here in the desert. I'll also take along a granola type bar for some real food. If I really think I'll need the calories I'll also take some homemade gu.

I heard wine is good for you and is high in calories. However, after a bottleful, I can only go in circles like NASCAR ;)

Just kidding, I use the Hammer endurance drink stuff. If I am eating solids, I prefer to get off the bike and enjoy the scenery.

I use four scoops Hammer Perpetuem and six (tiny) scoops of Endurolytes for every two hours, plus additional water to get to where I want to be on fluids. Works amazing.

On rides longer than 2.5 hours, I find it best to be "off the bike" and eat something at a rest stop. Long rides does not mean you have to be on the bike all the time.
