I prefer real food for recovery. Recovery drinks and bars are expensive and contain a lot of artificial ingredients.
For sports drink I have been using HEED. There's differences between drinks but what's more important is something that does not upset your stomach and that still tastes good after hours on the bike. There are some electrolytes in HEED but I don't depend on it for electrolytes when it's hot out- I take additional ones.
Lately HEED and Hammer gels have been making my stomach hurt some on rides so I may have to switch.
