Confused
Hi I'm confused about some of the data I've been collecting on my daily bike rides.
The data I've collected.
Why am i burning more calories when I'm going slower and for less distance then i am when I'm going faster and for greater distances? I admit Mapmyride inst the greatest GPS bike solution out there but at the moment its the best i can do, but its got me a bit confused on how its collecting its data. Anyone got any ideas whats going on here?

What is going on is that the figures the program is feeding you are rubbish. It is suggesting that a lot f the time you are burning about 60kcal per mile travelled. In reality it will be not much more than half that, at best. When Bradley Wiggins won the individual TT at the Tour de France this year he covered about thirty miles in an hour, putting out something like 420 watts, on average. Even at that power output he will have burned less than 60kcal per mile.
I weigh about 200lbs. For me to burn 1000kcal in an hour on my road bike in flat, windless conditions I'd have to average close to 25mph at about 290 watts. If I were able to do that - and I can't - I'd still only be burning about 40 kcal per mile. Most of the time I find 25 - 30 kcal per mile to be a better approximation.
there are lots of bike calculators on-line , and a few apps, that will help you make a more accurate calculation for yourself, if you want to.

If you're close to 275 pounds then the calories calculated may be reasonable. The calculator may be including the amount of uphill climbing. If you're plugging in your daily weight each time that would vary the calories.
