Proper Rest Prior to Big Event

Have a big 100 mile mtb event coming up. What would be the proper time to be fully rested prior to event.
2 days prior. there is a local club 10km TT, can i still do the 10km TT 2 days prior? or should i take 2 full days off prior to the event?

Also what are best foods for good recovery?

How much sleep is best?

If it were me, I'd do the 10 km TT ... then go for a short recovery ride the next day.

Food ... something with protein. Eat lean meat, nuts, dairy with some carbs. Go for something like a chicken sandwich, chicken rice and a veg, lean ground beef hamburgers ...

Sleep ... at least 8 hours a night over the next few nights. If you can get in 9 or 10, even better.
