fall rhythm?
lost some gym time this summer. vacation interrupted my routine, then I got gout, then I had a tooth pulled, then school started for the kids and I was getting out early to get them from work, blah blah blah lame excuse after lame excuse. finally getting back to the weight training. yeesh, I suck at pull-ups again. my curls and bench press have suffered too. the lat pull-down is not a surprise that wide grip and those ligaments can't be messed with. about half of the other stuff I do is not so bad tho ...
anyone else get thrown off by the summer? |
Summer is the time for bike riding, so all that other stuff goes bye-bye for me. 2 weeks into my winter program I'm surprised at how fast the other stuff is coming back. I always start off by adjusting weights so I can do sets of 30 and not hurt myself. I've already put some size on my thighs and had some good results on my rollers. It's going to be a good winter. I can hardly wait for ski season.

I usually try to arrange things so that I can focus on cycling and other outdoor activities in the late spring, summer, and early autumn.
Then I plan to run errands and do other stuff during the winter. And gym activities. |
I work with a trainer once a week. I pay her in advance so I have to show up or I lose money. I've found that since I've gotten older it is harder for me to regain strength if I've slacked off for several weeks so that motivates me to keep it up. Having a gym at work makes things a lot easier, too.
