What is your favourite Energy Meal prior to big ride or event?

So what is your favourite secret food you eat to get the winning edge on your next big ride/race or event?

This could be a fun forum as many people eat different things.

well, for a meal ... I would stick with normal food, no experimentation. so like for breakfast a scrambled egg sandwich works for me. if you have some potatoes kicking around add those. I usually can't get my riding act together so quickly so time usually passes before I start riding so I'll add a banana to the pre-ride consumption. then right before the ride, if it's been some time after the banana I'll eat a small box of raisins. if the time between the meal and the ride is shorter then I bring the banana but still eat the raisins as I walk out the door.

how 'bout you?

My standard pre-ride breakfast is a homemade whole wheat waffle with lots of fresh fruit on the top and some real maple syrup.

I always have exactly the same thing. Been using it for 15 years. 300 calories of maltodextrin, 100 calories of flavored whey protein. Put in the fridge the night before. Drink 2 hours before event. Only takes a couple minutes to drink it. No prep time. No stomach load. No intestinal load. Full liver glycogen replenishment. Tastes decent, though a little bland. I like chocolate or vanilla ice cream flavors best. Wouldn't do to do that every day, but once a week or so is fine.
