What's on your calendar this year?

Time to post up and commit! Tell us what you have coming up and what events you're training for.

As for me, I already have one under my belt this year - Miami about a month back. I'm a member of the local (Las Vegas) tri club and they're putting on four events this year, so I'm hoping to hit all four of them. In addition, I have....
St. George 70.3 May 10
Rage triathlon (sprint) May 17
Las Vegas triathlon (sprint) Oct 4
Pumpikinman triathlon (sprint) Oct 25

In addition, I may (probably) will do the Santa Barbara 45 (long course) in August and a friend may talk me into doing the Santa Cruz 70.3 in September. But I'm not sure about one of them since they're only two weeks apart. That might be a little rough.

And I also have another three or four 5k runs on the books as well but I just do those as training runs at this point.

I'm planning to participate in the NY State champs, gravel, crit, road and TT event's. I was planning on going to Nationals but they are a 13 hour drive for me and at $117 per event it's just not worth it...
I'll also be participating in a few local events.

Hi Jen. I plan on 1 or 2 quick Sprints or Aqua Bikes this summer. But I'm probably only going to pick something on a Saturday. I hate this Sunday stuff, which severely limits my options. Then an Oly or two come fall, with another stab at IW in December. I start running again at the end of May. Had to give my calves a few months off.

I’ve only recently (past year or so) gotten back into running after enduring a hip replacement (right) seven years ago, followed by my (left) knee going bad, and then getting replaced 1 ½ year ago. But I’m slow. Like 10-11 minutes per mile pace slow. After several years of not doing any racing (other than swimming), last summer I finally participated in a sprint tri. But, searching for THAT race, I was dismayed by how much the cost of tri registration has increased in the past 5-6 years. Which I just don’t ‘get’ but that’s a different conversation. Anyway…I’ll probably look again at that sprint I did last summer, and for any other local (sprint, maybe Oly) races that don’t break the bank. I am signed up for a 2-mile open water fundraiser swim put on by a local environmental organization that I swim every year (this year will be my 25th). And a 2-day/100 mile ride I do ever fall. So…whatever else I can find that suits my expenses, and calendar. — Dan

Force...so you're running a 10-11 minute mile AFTER a hip and knee replacement? This make me feel very weak, as I clocked an average 9-1/2 minute mile at my last event in October. I guess I was somewhat faster in reality, as I have to factor in a pit stop and at least 1-2 minutes screwing around at the refreshment tables. Still, I have terrible number compared to you!

I’ve been a distance runner since my h.s. days in the mid-late 70s. Ten year before I began having the lower joint issues, I was running 5k races sometimes at 6:30 pace. I feel like I could probably get back to maybe 8-ish minutes per mile with some concentrated speed work on the track. BUT…I’ve sorta vowed that I won’t do that to my artificial joints. Consequently, I’m only running no more than once per week and only a max of 5-6 miles at a time.

You're slow? Pffft! I'm happy if I can break a 10min/mile pace in a stand alone 5k today. Tack a run on at the end of swim/bike and anything under a 12min/mile pace is a victory for me. When I do StG next weekend, my target is going to be anything under 14min/mile.
