Just about to head out for the first ride but I promised H20 Chick that I would post a picture when I got it.

Introducing the 2006 Cervelo P2 SL...

Unfortunately I think it arrived just a bit too late for me to use it at Pacific Coast this Sunday but I'll definitely be on it in Vegas on Oct. 16th!

H2OChick 09-08-05 07:17 PM

Yeehaw! Snazzy! I like the "paint job." Very classy looking. Congratulations.

nnewton123 09-08-05 08:28 PM

Sweet bike. Especially so because I love black bikes.

I got an '06 Felt B2 on order... building it up with campy, fsa, hed stuff. Just waiting for the frame to come in... should be sometime in Oct. hopefully.

chrisesposito 09-08-05 11:38 PM

Nice bike; I never thought I'd like black as a bike color, but it's growing on me. What do you need to do to it that you won't be able to ride it this Sunday?

New tri bike day for me too, sort of. I bought a beautiful red and black 56cm Cervelo Soloist frame from gcasillo (another BF member), and some Zipp wheels on eBay. Just got the zipps back from being trued, and had the LBS move everything else over from the old frame. I'll post a picture when I can find the camera. Until then, here's the build:

Cervelo Soloist frame, carbon aero seatpost
Zipp 404 front, 440 rear wheels
Zipp carbon bottle cages
Easton EC 90 aero carbon fork
Easton EC 90 Equipe carbon bars
Easton EM 90 stem
Easton Aeroforce carbon clip-on aerobars
Zero Gravity Ti brakes
Fizik Arione Ti saddle (red & black)
drivetrain is a mix of Ultegra and Dura Ace 10 speed, with a Stronglight Pulsion carbon crankset & American Classic ISIS bottom bracket.

First ride is tommorow, then on Saturday a preview of the bike course for the Kirkland sprint tri on the 18th.

Chris

P.S. As a result, I've got a 2003 57cm titanium Lemond Arrivee frame, an Easton carbon fork, a Chris King headset, and an Easton EC 90 carbon seatpost now looking for a good home, if anybody is interested.

Nice bike cjbruin. My dad is looking at one of those, I am trying to convince him to get the P3, he keeps saying it costs too much. He is always buying lower end stuff for himself, so he can afford to get nicer things for my mom and my siblings. I get mad saying we dont need all better stuff, just get a nice bike. I may just give him the $1000 difference to treat him to a nice bike.

Nice bike. Post your ride report when you get back. :)

Medpilot 09-09-05 07:10 AM

Nope, I got mine 21/2 months ago. :)

Nice bike! Let us know how she rides.

Report from the brief (14 mi) first ride...

Yikes, what a difference from my road bike! I went for a quick easy spin with my wife. I'm tapering this week for my race on Sunday so I didn't want to push too hard. I spent most of my time on the bull horns because we were riding side by side. When I was on the aero bars it felt very powerful and fast. It will take some time to get used to the new position (the main reason I will be riding my roadie in the event) and dropping more weight will definitly be a plus.

I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for the kind words.

Chris...congrats on the new ride. H20Chick says you're a cool guy and very helpful. My mother-in-law lives in the same town as you. Maybe we can get in a ride the next time I'm up that way.

Hawkear 09-09-05 11:49 AM

That's a sweet ride.

Did you get it at Edge? Someday, I will upgrade... (prays for good stock options to come through...)

Triguy 09-09-05 12:56 PM

I will probably be putting down the deposit on my new bike frame today. I've been talking over geometry and such with the builder for the past two weeks and I'm all set to have him create after his past email. But I don't know if it'll compare to your very fine Cervelo.

cjbruin 09-09-05 01:48 PM

Hawkear. Yep, got it from Hank. He did an awesome job on fitting. He more or less had it set up before I got there and mentioned things like..."I trimmed the bad ends because your forearms are about the same length as mine." and "I anticipated that you would need to be further back because I noticed that you have pretty long femurs for the length of your legs." Wow! Talk about paying attention...

Hank runs a great shop and has great people working with him. Juan has done tune-ups and stuff on my road bike and he is awesome. Can't recommend these guys enough.

Cjbruin, thanks. Next time you're up this way, let me know and we can go for a ride. Fall is pretty much here, since the temperature of the rain has dropped :D and it wil be cloudy and drizzly into next May.

Congrats to both of you. Something about Cervélo just says "sexy".

airsoft510 09-14-05 09:19 PM

i had a pair of easton vista wheels on my p3 carbon for about 30 miles then i fell between boards on a boardwalk (i know i wasnt thinking) and they cracked, had to walk all the way back

Berns 09-14-05 10:35 PM

I've had my bike forever, but I got some Zipp wheels today from ebay :D I still have to take a picture with them. Here's a pic of my bike though. I'm too fat to ride it now and I'm too slow :( I usually tell people that it's like having a Ferrari with a Pinto engine  So lately I've been spending time on the trainer to bring down my weight. Someday, I'll head out when I'm lighter ;) and try and keep up with y'all.

Yes - sort of - I got a new bike yesterday.
I put a deposit on a '04 Cannondale Ironman 2000 that my LBS still had. I'm having some upgrades added:
Ksyrium SLs added (instead of the Ksyrium Elites it comes with)
FSA Gossamer Hollowgram cranks
Dura-Ace Rear Derailleur
Specialized Pro All Condition Tires
Shimano Ultegra pedals

I'm getting a great deal on it as my riding buddy is the GM of my LBS and this bike is an '04.
I'm take delivery when they get around to adding the upgrades. May be 2 or 3 months - will be hard to wait!!!

Berns, how's the ride on this bike? Since the seat appears to be mounted directly on the frame instead of a beam or a boom (like SoftRide or TitanFlex), it seems like it might ride more like a regular double-diamond frame road bike. Regardless, I think it's a nice looking bike.

No, there is a bracket that is attached to the beam itself for the seat and there are dampeners inside the beam itself. Once you remove the beam you can replace the dampeners with different ones to adjust the ride. Currently I have it on the stiffest setting and it road similar to my last road bike. I really enjoy the bike but I think that I would like to get another bike (650c) that will work better for hill climbing. I've been looking on ebay but don't really see anything that I like. So the search continues...

chrisesposito 09-15-05 11:42 AM

I have heard that steeper seat angle bikes don't climb as well, other things being equal; don't yet know if that's true. Any idea what the effective seat angle (i.e., the seat angle you would have if you had a seat post to connect seat and bottom bracket) on your bike is?

Berns 09-15-05 11:53 AM

Honestly I don't know the current angle. I know that I've got HUGE adjustment on where I can put the seat. I just set it to where I'm confortable. Seat angle is something that I'm always playing with too. The bracket slides back and forth (as well as the seat and then you can turn the bracket around for even more adjustability. If you want, I can take a pricture of the bracket so you can see... it will have to be later this evening though ;)

cjbruin: I'm sorry if it seems like the thread got hijacked. I've been considering getting another time trial bike with a seat tube so I can compete in TT evnets. Your bike looks HOT! Good job :D

Hijacked? Whatever. We're all friends in here...I got to brag about my new ride...whatever people want to post is AOK with me.

RoadToad 09-19-05 10:01 AM

Finished building my Kestrel Talon in late spring... So it's "new-ish" :)

I did buy a new road frame last weekend though, an Orbea Orca. What a bike that is!

cjbruin 09-19-05 02:10 PM

Let us know about the Orbea...I keep seeing more and more of them. Would love to know how they ride.
