What Size Bull Horn/ Base Bar To Get

I'm geting a set of bullhorns for my tri/tt bike project and am unsure what width to get. My road bike has 44's if that means anything. The bike is a 56cm. Other measurements shoulder end to end 16.5 inches height 5' 11". Should I go for 44's like my road bike or would I fit all right on 42's. Thanks for all the help also none of my local bike shops has anything like this so I cant go try stuff.

i don't think its going to matter much. Narrower will be more aero (when your on the cowbars) wider will be a little more stable and less twitchy. I'd err on the side of the wider bars and go with your road bike width if you're in doubt. When your doing a tt or a tri, you're hardly going to be on the base bars, and at those times you are (i.e. tight corner, technical descent) you'll want to feel secure on them.

I'm about the same size as you & ride with 42cm Visiontech base with 270mm clip ons. That is what is comfortable for me. My road bike, I think I have 46's on. The 42's really don't feel much less stable after a couple times out.
