What goes in a transition pack???
Tri Newbie here, 1 week and counting.
I've read about transition packs, and want more clarification. Silly questions, I know. But are you literally allowed to have a bag or duffle with gear in it at your transition spot? And what do you keep in there? The forecast for my tri is a high of 95 (should only be about 80 by that time of the morning), but can I keep stuff like an xtra shirt in there in case mine is drenched after the bike?
Thanks!!!

I had a plastic crate, just tucked it out of the way when it was done. There hasn't been a limit to what you can take, and I've seen people with a beach towel and a complete change of clothes in my novice event.
A wicking top will be faster though!

I use a 5 gallon bucket from Lowe's to carry my stuff. I then turn it over and use it to sit on to put on my shoes and socks (I wear socks - some don't). What I bring:
1. Normal sized towel - to lay stuff on
2. Hand towel - to use to dry feet off before putting on socks
3. Bike pump - keep in car, but top off with air prior to going to transition area
4. Bike tool - just in case
5. Sunscreen (apply after you get your numbers marked)
6. Sunglasses
7. swim goggles
8. bike shoes
9. running shoes
10. socks
11. top/jersey
12. power gels (# depends on distance - for an Oly I consume two on the bike and one on the run)
13. water bottles (one or two on my bike depending on distance & one at transition)
14. race number & number belt
15. swim cap (given out with your race packet)
16. bike helmet
I think that is it. Obviously, wear your tri shorts to the race.
