Pedal question

I have crank brother egg beaters for pedals. That's exactly what they look like too. There's no platform, just 4 pieces of metal heavy wire that look like an egg beater. I really like them. They're easy to get in and out of... But do they help me make speed????

One of my riding buddies thinks I'd do a lot better with something different...

I think he's about as knowledgable as me so I'd like some adice from those who may have more insight.

thanks

Road pedals will probably be lighter depending on brand and will give you a broader platform reducing the likelihood of hot sports on your foot. Also, they tend to lock you foot in better which is more important in road racing sprints (this kind o riding should never happen during your tri.)

Having said that, if you like your pedals and aren't having any problems, ignore your buddy and use what works. I personally use the SPD platform (a mtn bike platform) for ease of use between all my different bikes and they work fine.

Hey, thanks for the thoughts.

That's good encouragment. For now, at my skill level, I'm sure those pedals are adequate.

Thanks again.
