Yes I may have to add a front brake if the rules dictate..
I'll use my P2C for 70.3 distance...

Single speed on a Tri-bike?!?? Man, I must really be out of touch...

Cool! What's that gear ratio?

Better be a Fixed Gear if he hopes to run it without a front brake, as there is no rear brake either.

WxGuesser: it is a beautiful build. Are you going to put on aerobars as well?

I thought you had to have front and rear brakes to be in triathlon events.

I did notice and wondered about that...

Gear Ratio is 3.00 (3:1)
Front fork is drilled for a brake... wishbone (rear) isn't..... hoping that some of the local tri's will let me use it... USAT rules say there must be at least one working brake on each of the two wheels.. maybe i should take my P2C to the USAT races... oh well.. i'll still have fun on the bike anyway..

39x13? 42x14?

WxGuesser 12-29-08 01:53 AM

Humm.. actually i thought it was a 48x16.. i just checked the specs and in fact it's a 48Tx15T.. which makes it a gear ratio of 3.20 (16:5)

You could try it in your local TT. USAC rules allow fixed gear with front brake only on TT's. Maybe if you show your Tri organizer the USAC rules they will allow it even though it isn't addressed. After all, you can brake with the real wheel with your legs and USAT rules just say one working brake per wheel. It doesn't say it needs to be a hand brake.
