How about this for sprint duathlons/triathlons? Seems it would take a huge chunk out of transition times. Would that more than make up for any deficit in cycling efficiency?

I have a set of toe strap pedals that I mount on my bike specifically for Duathlons. I wouldn't use them for a Sprint Tri as i'd rather have my feet in dry running shoes, but my transition times in the Duathlon are really fast. I'm sure you lose a little pedaling efficiancy due to the softer shoe, but the fact your in and out of transition in seconds definitely makes up for it.

Note I'm a triathlon virgin I will do my first tris this year, however Toe Cagess Scare the Bejesus out of me. They are so much harder to get out of if you're in risk of going down. Trust me on this I know someone with 3 implants due to a bike flipping because he couldnt get out in time. I had my brakes fail reccently going down a mountain it was the ability to quickly release my foot and use the cleat for stopping power that saved my ass and my bikes ass from ramming into a wall on a hairpin turn. Toe Cagess = Terrifying.
