aero bar shifter question

just got the Profile Design Alumin X aero bars in today. the ends of the aero bars are teardrop shaped. has anyone mounted shifters on the ends of these? also, are the cables usually routed through the bars on aero bars?

The tear drop shape is for the cables to go through. They'll mount fine.

I have drilled holes so that I could route my cables internally on my aerobars.
