Anybody do the Disco Triathlon in Valley View Texas today?

There is a couple reasons why I am posting this, one is that the road was very rough and I got a flat, which sucked as it was my first tri. Anyway, I was wondering if any of ya'll experienced triathletes knew of a good tire that is really strong I was riding on these continental race tires that have little rolling resistance and are super light, only thing is is that they are softer than a feather and are prone to flats on some of the smoothest roads. So if you have any suggestions I'm all ears(or eyes I guess since I'm reading all this) The main thing I'm looking for is strength and durability I'd rather be a little bit slower because of my tires than lose fifteen minutes with a stubborn tire. Also cost is somewhat of a factor I am a poor college student so I can't get anything outrageously expensive. Thanks

The second thing I wanted to say is that the worlds nicest people were at this triathlon, I don't know if all triathlons are like that, but this one was superb. I got my flat and realized I had forgotten to put my bike bag back on after the car trip(I know rookie mistake) So when I got my flat and realized I didn't have anything I was ready to quit and was waiting for a car to come by so I could hitch hike back. Lucky for me though an extremely nice man stopped during his ride and immediately took out all his tools and his spare tube gave them to me asked me to zip up his bag again wished me luck then started racing again. Now I went through my whole life all the way through high school swimming competitively and playing water polo. If you have any experience with swimming competitively then you know the faster you get the ruder your competitors get, so this awesome generosity and how nice everyone was. I know its a stretch, but if you know the guy that helped me(he was in a black and red suit) or if you are the guy please PM so I can thank you/them personally.

Anyways for my first sprint tri I felt I did decent I went 1:52.17 with the flat tire. I finished 9th(7:03 for a 500 open lake) overall in the swimming( that's including the people there that were doing the olympic distance) 422th(don't really remeber but around 1hour 12 minutes) in the biking and 144th(27:14) in the running. Just wondering if this is alright or really bad I can take utter negativity so don't feel bad telling me its not good just wondering if I have a shot at joining the triathlon team at my college( Texas A&M whoop!).

Anyways if you read it thanks I'm just really excited about all of this, it was one of the most fun things I've ever done and I plan to compete some more in the future.
