Race may be non-wetsuit legal, what do you do?

So next weeks upcoming Nations Tri may be non-wetsuit legal because the water temp now is 85 degrees. So what do you do? I normally wear a tri-top and tri-shorts under my wetsuit, should I maybe swim in both? Or try and put the tri-top on in transition (which will probably be a pain in the ass because its tight and hard to put on when I am dry, let alone soaked)! Anyone?

That's what trisuits, tri tops, and tri shorts are designed for, so yes you should swim in both. Number one rule of transition is never try to pull anything on over a wet body, no exceptions.

Wear your tri clothing and have fun. You may want to check and see if speedsuits are legal for that race.

May I make the note that they are trying to illegalize speedsuits in all triathlons, so even if they are legal for this one, I would not recommend spending the money on one.

The speedsuits are bloody expensive and a waste of money in my opinion that is why I will never own one. However, if one is looking to wear one, it is on him/her. I just made the suggestion.
To the OP- at 85 degrees you would not want to be in a wetsuit as it will be hot enough to sizzle your unit off.

Thanks for the tips all, I figured I could just wear my tri-top but I wasn't sure if it would end up a hindrance. Definitely not gonna go the speed suit route, as every race I've done in the past 3 years has been wetsuit legal except this one, no worth the money for theoretically one race. I'm slow anyway hehehe.

I just wear what I'm normally planning on wearing under the suit, even if it adds a little drag, it'll more than make up for it. Just head to a tri and watch how slow people are when they try to pull tight clothing over wet skin, it's pretty entertaining.

My first year of doing Tri's I wore a running jersey that I would put on as I was getting on the bike. It was one of the dumbest things I've ever done.
