Opinion on Felt B16

LBS quoted me a price today on a Carbon frame Felt B16 2010 for $1600.....he said they are making room for new inventory.....this seems like a great deal.

I realize some of you probably have a better bike, but for that money and for me entering the sport do you think it is a good bike.

not sure if it has shimano 105 or ultegra**********?
Any opinions on this bike

thanks

It's a really good deal.

its a great bike, but first make sure it fits. theres nothing worse than a ill fitting bike. So if it does fit buy it on the spot its an amazing bike

thanks...going tomorrow to check it out, and if it fits and he does not change his mind and has not sold it since sunday...its mine!

Sounds like a good, but standard deal to get rid of the '10 inventory. Trisports here in Tucson has the B16 for $1547.00 plus an additional in store 20% off for a total of $1237.60 + tax. Great deal. I know locally it comes with 105 and the 2011 has Ultegra. Just make sure it fits!

Put a down payment on it today!!!....getting fitted for it specifically next week, but a check on the trainer looked and felt (no pun intended) good.....I think I got a steel for an "entry level" bike....CArbon frame Felt 2010 B16 for 1600...with shoes and pedals and tax 1911.....shopping around do not think I could have bought new carbon anywhere near that.......the aluminum S22 was 1500, so I believe I made out nicely....I realize the 2011 B16 has ultrega, but this has 105 and should be good for me for awhile.

good point tribonic, but I searched around here for weeks and could not get that deal (1237), most were around 1800

There is nothing wrong with 105. The performance related differences would remain unnoticeable.

True story:

After winning a race I was walking to my car with my bike when an older guy who I really like stops to talk to me. He looks down and sees my Shimano 105 brakes and says, "Shimano 105, well I guess it really isn't about the bike". Which is hilarious, because 1, they are my brakes, what do they have to do with speed, and 2, nothing ina triathlon is so technical that quality of components really matter(there is usually no quick shifting, braking, etc like a crit).

Anyway, I think equipment matters, I was about 1 minute faster on average when I got the B2 but I'd put most if not all of that down to aerodynamics.

triguy: good story...I am new to this so after awhile of reading from all these websites they start to brain wash you to think 105 is bad, and you must have ultegra or better, but a more accomplished biker than myself who is a close friend said 105 is very good......

105 is excellent stuff.

With DA shifters it is impossible to discern a functional difference between a 105 RD and a DA/Ultegra RD.

+1. I am building up a Tri-bike and will be going with a 2011 DA/105 group. I put the 2011 105 on my wifes bike and it shifts much nicer than my 09 Ultegra components. Great job on pulling the trigger on a great bike. Hoping to have my bike built up by next season.

How so...the B16 and B2 come from the same mold...unless it was an old B16

So did you get the bike or not?

spinalrx 11-07-10 09:07 PM

Yes...well actually will get it on Wed....when I get the full fitting and adjustments. I did not have the time last week. they said it takes awhile. They just took a look at me on the trainer to be sure it would fit and picked out shoes and pedals. My post above tells about the deal i think I got!

WELL, post some PICS up man!!!! of course, as soon as said bike is in your posession.....if you have never ridden another tribike, you will not have anything to compare it to, but i had an Orbea that i had built up myself, it was my first tri bike, she was fast, light and gorgeous.... I posted some pics up earlier this year, search them.....anyways, compared to my NEW felt, there is no comparison, the felt is attractive, fast and most of all, extremely comfortable.

spinalrx 11-08-10 10:45 AM

Ill be sure to take some pics when I bring her home wed! lol

JRonaTrek 11-10-10 02:07 PM

spinalrx 11-10-10 02:19 PM

Picked it up...tried to put pics up earlier but it said file size too big....???? It is just a regular jpeg!? ....ill try again later...maybe I have to convert pic to some other format.... , but to me its a beauty! LBS made adjustments and ready to go...just need to get some warm weather gear for winter riding lol...its my first tri bike....and just messed around in my driveway....gonna take some time to get used to, but I can see why everyone gets one!!!

JRonaTrek 11-10-10 02:25 PM

try adding it as an attatchment....thats what i do.

spinalrx 11-10-10 08:27 PM
