Training Setback

So in my effort to train for a 70.3 for next year, I was looking for a place that offers adult swimming lessons. It turns out that they dont offer those classes till summer and none of the coaches have any experience with triathlons. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do. Im not worried about the running or biking portions. I havent been in a pool in over 10 years and the last time I took swimming lesson was when i was a kid.

Why would swimming lessons be triathlon specific? Tell the instructors you need to train for a 1 mile open water swim and that some lessons to help you polish your mechanics are needed.

Look in triathlon magazines there are even DVDs you can get to teach tri swimming. It's all about efficency - you can't win on the swim it's all about not getting behind and having enough energy to win in the run.

None of the local coaches are interested in personal training, it didn't necessarily need to be tri specific.

I have been watching videos on youtube and such, but watching vid can only go so far, I guess for now i will just concentrate on the running and biking portion and when the opportunity arises I will train for the swim portion.
