Trainer or GPS?
I'm a swimmer, but I've been trying to get into triathlons. Right now I have the option of buying either a Garmin Forerunner or a Kurt Kinetic trainer. Which should I opt for, considering I currently have only 2 days a week available for cycling (I'm a student, don't have much time)? Please, give me your suggestions! Any input appreciated.

I imagine that this answer is probably irellavent at this point since it was months ago, but since no one else seemed to give an opinion I guess I will.
I would say go for the trainer. A GPS is not at all necessary, but using a trainer might help you get more time in the saddle if you are time crunched. You can always use something like mapmytri.com to figure out how far you went and if you have a cheap watch you can figure out how fast you are running. I would even say an HR monitor would be more important than a GPS. Sorry this is so late coming, but I HOPE that it helps. |
Probably you already made your decision, but in my opinion I would go for the trainer.
The GPS function can be used on any modern smart phone, like iPhone or Android. If there is a winter in the area you live -- the GPS computer is irrelevant for cold months, but not the trainer. |
