I have my tri bike put together at last! I bought a 2003 Kilo from my LBS when they first came out. I love this frameset but most of the components were junk. I bought about half of this stuff from Ebay and about half of it from my LBS. Some of the highlights are:
1.FSA Vision BaseBar, AeroBar, and Stem
2.Look Keo Pedals
3. FSA Carbon Cranks
4. FSA ISIS BB
5. HED 3 Carbon 3 spoke wheels
6. Carbon Concepts Ti skewers
7. Ultegra Bits and Brakes
8. Profile Design Karbon Lite cages.
9. Selle San Marco ASPide Triathlon Gel saddle
10. Giant Aero carbon seatpost

Let me know what you guys think!

hoodlum: I hate you....just kidding. That's a totally awesome looking bike!

Which reminds me of something Donna said while we were at All3Sports yesterday. She saw a totally tricked out carbon bike on the showroom and said "Check out this bike, it's so cool looking, and only $850.00." to which I replied "Honey, the rear wheel is $850.00"

Sweet.

Have you used the Aspide saddle? I got it last year and it is rubbing holes in all my shorts. I have to find a new saddle or my shorts budget will go through the roof.

I bought them used from a guy I know. He was the original owner and they are very lightly used- races only. I paid $525 for the wheels, 11-23 Ultegra Cassette, and two new Vittoria Corsa Evo-CX tubular tires.

HA HA HA HA...Line of the day...very funny. Donna sounds like she might be related to Carrie <---my wife.

On a serious note, that is one VERY smokin' bike. I really dig the all black and white and carbon color scheme. I am officially jealous of all you budgetless guys.

It is a seatpost made my Giant. It is aero carbon and is designed by Mike Burrows (The guy who invented the compact road frame). I have no clue what model it is.

Is that the MCR frame? You now have a ZIPP 2001 & a Giant MCR, how cool is that!

that is one awesome looking bike! like the contrast that white bar tape give to the all-black look.

I have only ridden it two times for a total of about 75 miles since I bought it. I'm not sure if I like it yet- it does seem kind of big at the nose. I really appriciate all of the kind comments about the bike. I really had a lot of fun putting it together. It will never be the fastest or most expensive bike on raceday, but I tried to put together the best bike I could with my budget. I would have loved to been able to put some Dura-Ace components, HED S-bend aerobars, and some Zipp 404's on it, but I would have been way over my budget. The only unnecessary items that are on there are the carbon cages, but I love the way they look to much not to buy them. They were an impulse buy at my LBS, an I can forgive myself for that one little splurge. I wanted to by a new tri bike, but with the money I had I thought I would be better off upgrading the Kilo rather than buying a new complete bike. If I had bought a new complete bike for the same amount of money I spent upgrading, I would have had to settle for something that wasn't any better than the stock Kilo I already owned. Who knows, maybe later I will upgrade the frameset. I think I am set for at least for the next tri season, and now I can let my wallet cool off a little. That thing has smoke coming off of it!

You did a smart thing.

When you are ready to move on to a faster bike like the QR Lucero...all you need is the frame, just transfer your gruppo.

Your Kilo might just be the most modded one out there.

Have a great season!
