Rx swim goggles?
Hello, everyone. I've got a bit of a quandry on my hands. I'm on the high side of 40 and don't know how to swim :o. I'm seriously thinking I need to learn but one of the things holding me back (aside from the rather (un)healthy phobia) is my eyes.
Though I'm legally blind, I can get around just fine so long as I have my glasses on. With out them, I have to either slow way down or completely stop whatever activity I may be doing. Combine that with the fact my tear ducts don't work like they should- it takes me like 5 minutes for my vision to come back to any sense of normalcy whenever I get splashed in the pool. Which brings me to my main question- how effective are swim goggles at keeping water away from the eyes? If they can keep the water from making contact with my eyes and I can towel off my face/hair before removing them, that would be great. If not, then I'm not sure I'm even going to be able to attempt it. |
These prescription work for me.....
Speedo Vanquisher Optical Goggle at SwimOutlet.com There are also others. |
you might want to talk to your eyecare team as I am guessing your precription maybe a little more complicated than getting the diopter close.
these look like they have potential Sportviz Affordable Custom Prescription Activity Masks, Goggles, and Sunglasses |

You should take a look at some high end swim gear manufacturers like TYR and Arena. If you get good swimming goggles and make sure they fit you then it's all good. I'd advise you to try them out on a bowl of water before and adjust them before going swimming.

I would look at the Aqua Sphere Eagle. Most cost effective and simple option. Simply purchase the correct lens and pop them in.
Good luck. |
