York to Birmingham

Hey dudes. Has anyone ever done this route? It is connected continuously by the NCN, via Doncaster, Sheffield, Derby...

I don't know how far it is but I guess over 100 miles?

I will be making the journey in a month's time, either by train or hopefully by bike. I have no previous experience with anything over 30 miles riding, but I'd really like to try it. If its 100 miles then I'd go for it in one long day. If its more then I think I'd have to stop over somewhere, probably.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

btw I don't yet have a bike for this :/

Don't run red lights, wear a helmet, use hand signals, get some cycle lights(front and rear) and, FFS, don't run red lights!

Ah cool, thanks. I was only aware of "map my ride" (or "map your ride"??) and that was very hard to plot all the way.

I'm not worried about places to stay, I'd either "camp" somewhere, or utilise a contact in Loughbrough, which is kind of en route.

Thanks, I'll see what I find in those links

Stealth camping is possible but you may get rudely awakened by an irate farmer and/or have things go missing.

try https://www.yha.org.uk/find-accommodation/index.aspx for bike friendly accommodation
