specialized sirrus comp12 or elite 12

Hi all. i'm new to the forum and about to get back into cycling for first time in years apart from the odd outing on my old edinburgh bicycle contour mountain bike.

I am about to purchase a bike through cyclescheme for work and have decided on the specialized sirrus but cannot decide between the comp or the elite. I am getting a test cycle of a comp at local evans store on sunday but starting to wonder if its worth the extra couple of hundred pounds over the elite although it does look better.

Has anyone got any experience of the above or any advice? My commute would be about 12 miles each way daily mostly road and cycle path though i hope to build up to 26 miles each way.

graeme1975,

What is your opinion of the Sirrus Comp so far? I know you've only had it a few weeks. I took a test ride on one today and really liked it.

I bought a Sirrus Comp and it has been a very good reliable bike ,
I wanted it racier so changed the tyres to 23c this is great if you arent carrying panniers however with panniers stick to wider tyres .
I now have a Trek 7.5fx too with a Brooks b17 seat. I prefer the Sirrus Gears took me sometime to get used to the Trek in fact hated them for some time.
A word of warning I bought my first sirrus 2nd hand and it got stolen on the first ride in Reading in daylight I had thought a chunky wire lock would do the job it didnt so now have a Abus d lock and am paronoid about leaving any of my bikes anywhere
