Low-rider rack doesn't fit

I have a low-rider rack that I'm dying to put to use on my daily rider, but I can't figure out how to get it to fit. Seems like the hardware isn't made for the forks on my 91 Rockhopper. I'll post some pictures when I get home. The rack fit fine on my 90s hybrid, but that bike is out of commission. Is there serious harm in slapping together a makeshift brace instead of using the stock? It doesn't need to be removeable, so I'm thinking a more permanent, custom job might fit the bill...

DIY, Fabricate adapters so it will fit .. if making things with your hands is not a skill set. Pay someone that can do it for You.

Good to have a second opinion. I'm not bad with DIY stuff, it's never pretty but it often does the job (after 2 or 3 tries). I like the challenge, so that's the next project.

I had a 85 Specialized expedition, It shipped ( japan export ) with a braze on location error with it's low rider mid fork mounts.
Their make up patch used 2 bolts, I made one up with 2 bolts on the rack end, 1 on the fork end.. so it wouldn't rotate on any 1 loose bolt.
