Handlebar/Basket Combo
2 Attachment(s)
Finally found a deal on the Evo Toba Brooklyn Handlebar Basket combo.
Although not a deep basket it offers both 31.8 and 25.4 mounting possibilities. Perhaps the depth is a good thing; in that it will hopefully not be loaded too heavy to interfere with steering. Also there is ample mounting space on the bars for a bell light or other goodies along with brakes, shifters, grips, barends, etc. |
It looks nice.
Are there any provisions on the bars/basket to add vertical struts between the basket and the fork? It looks like it will put a lot of torque on the stem. |
Nifty. I see Origin8 has something similar. That would be easy to mount on my errand bike with suspension fork. Sometimes I need just a little more carrying capacity, and that would work with my camera bags too.

Support struts from axle or fork
No factory eyelets or such, but would be easy to attach support struts with some flexible steel strapping or "P"clamps attached to the tubular frame on the bottom of the basket.
Don't feel they would be nesseccary if your stem is threadless with a 4 bolt face plate - on a quill stem with single clamp bolt perhaps. Also this isn't a huge basket so not anticipating heavy load. |

The struts are not required unless you are placing stupidly heavy weights in the basket.
These types of porteur style rack baskets are very popular here in the UK, in Denmark, Holland and Germany and the vast majority of these after market basket racks are supplied and fitted without additional support struts and only a small percentage are actually supplied with them. The rattle can repainted second-hand after market porteur rack basket fitted on a friend's bike, this is often loaded with 15kg (33lbs) of shopping and does not have additional struts. |
