Cooler for bike
1 Attachment(s)
Any suggestions? I've started using my bike for fishing trips close to home. I want to add a cooler. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I just need something small to go on the front rack.

Cargo Bike Trailer to carry one or an insulated lunch pail.
|
Softsided Yeti?

maybe one of these small personal coolers with an integrated handle and a bungee cord to tie it down? Something like an Igloo Playmate cooler.

WalMart sporting goods section has a number of $8-15 6-9 can coolers that should be just about the right size for that rack. Might need a bit of creativity on attachment method, but if you pick one with an internal stiffener it shouldn't be hard to do.

don't know if it'll be small enough for you but I noticed this a couple years back and it works great to keep things cool.
go to the regular dollar general store (maybe other stores have it also). they have a small, cheap Styrofoam cooler for a dollar. then if you have a family dollar nearby (again, maybe other stores have something similar), get one of their soft sided coolers that are about $10. the Styrofoam cooler just fits in the soft sided cooler and together things stay cool for a good long time. sunday was my bike riding day and I would put a couple of frozen bottles or water in with a couple bottles of whatever else I was drinking. everything stayed pretty cool. even when I left the cooler(s) in the bed of my truck and opened it the next day, whatever was left in there was still kinda cool. |
see if you can find a Timbuk2 hatchback bag. I have one and it is awesome but they are discontinued. Keeps frozen stuff from the store cold for a couple hours. Also Green Guru makes a small handlebar cooler bag and a cooler pannier. https://www.greengurugear.com/produc...-handlebar-bag You can find those cheaper if you google. I have the black 6L bag and it works well, too. Green guru's cooler trunk bag is on sale and would probably fit your rack.

2nd this, my first one (handle bar bag would would also fit on your front rack) is 5 years old now, still going strong. |
I'd zip tie a Wald basket to the front rack. Then you can choose from a variety of cheap soft-sided coolers.

I have Coca Cola CC06, I can easily place it on front rack.
